Dr. Martin Spring’s educational journey is a testament to his dedication to the field. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Santa Clara University, followed by a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of San Diego, and another Master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from Chapman University. His academic pursuit culminated in the achievement of a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of California, Riverside.
With a rich and diverse background in education, Dr. Spring has excelled in various roles. His career began as a high school teacher and evolved into positions as a high school counselor, school psychologist, and administrator in both K-12 and community college settings. Notably, he served as the supervisor of an extensive team, overseeing district psychologists, speech/language pathologists, school nurses, adapted physical education teachers, and all special classes within a K-12 district.
His impactful journey also included a significant role as the longtime Dean of Counseling and Student Development at MiraCosta College, where he was responsible for supervising DSPS/Access Services. He held a similar interim dean position for Counseling Services at Cuyamaca College. Furthermore, Dr. Martin has shared his wealth of knowledge by teaching graduate courses in educational psychology at UC San Diego, UC Riverside, and CSU San Bernardino.
Upon retirement from the community college sector, Dr. Martin returned to his passion as a school psychologist. In this role, he takes great joy in assisting children in accessing the academic and social-emotional support they need. His collaborative approach involves working closely with teachers, parents, and other education specialists to develop research-based educational programs that foster success for all students.
In his leisure time, Dr. Martin finds solace in various activities, including biking, swimming, and golfing. However, his greatest source of joy is witnessing the growth and development of his five beloved grandchildren.
