Kaylie stands as a distinguished Speech and Language Pathologist with an expertise that extends into the realm of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Her professional journey commenced at Casa Colina Rehabilitation Hospital in the Children’s Center, where she honed her skills working with diverse children requiring AAC devices and systems.

Driven by a commitment to continuous improvement, Kaylie has dedicated herself to extensive learning in AAC systems, assessments, training, and accessible mounting, actively participating in various courses. Her pursuit of excellence is underscored by the recognition of an Award for Continuing Education (ACE) during the second awards cycle (December 2021-December 2024).

Since October 2019, Kaylie has been a vital member of her current District, serving as an AAC Specialist across 32 school sites, spanning from preschool to adult transition programs. Her expertise covers a broad spectrum of impairments and disabilities, ranging from challenges in being understood to students with multiple disabilities.

Kaylie’s passion and specialization shine brightly when working with students facing multiple disabilities. She possesses the unique ability to identify access methods and language systems that enable them to effectively communicate wants, needs, and even express basic greetings such as “Hi” or “mom/dad” for the first time. She firmly believes in the inherent right of every individual to access communication within their unique potential, recognizing the distinctiveness of each student.

Acknowledged for her unwavering dedication, Kaylie has received both a Sunshine Award and Teacher of the Year Award from the District. These accolades, bestowed by staff and parents of special education students, stand as a testament to the profound and positive impact she has made on the lives of the children, their families, and the broader educational community she serves.
