Kristen Cooper is a highly experienced occupational therapist, dedicated to serving the unique needs of students in public schools for over 13 years. Her journey into the field of occupational therapy began while working as a paraprofessional in early intervention settings following her graduation with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgetown University. Throughout her career, Kristen has amassed a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience, specializing in the evaluation and support of students ranging from preschool to age 12. She has worked with students facing a wide spectrum of disabilities, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Orthopedic Impairment, Intellectual Disability, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Dysgraphia, Global Developmental Delay, Emotional Disturbance, and Down Syndrome.

Kristen’s dedication to professional growth and expertise is further demonstrated by her successful completion of the comprehensive coursework offered by WPS/USC in Sensory Integration, which was previously known as “SIPT Certification.” This training has equipped her with a deep understanding of sensory integration theory, which she expertly applies to her practice in the school setting. One of Kristen’s core passions lies in ensuring that students have access to the least restrictive educational settings. Her collaborative approach with parents and educational staff enables her to make a significant impact on student success. Her professional journey has seen her providing occupational therapy services in diverse environments, including sensory-motor clinics, schools, homes, and communities.

Beyond her professional commitments, Kristen actively contributes to her local community. She co-leads a Girl Scout troop and serves on the Executive Board of the PTA at her children’s school. She extends her support to local families by offering pro-bono consultation services and delivers kindergarten preparation presentations to parent communities, focusing on enhancing fine motor skills and sensory processing in home settings. During her free time, Kristen enjoys indulging in her love for literature by reading best-selling books. She also takes pleasure in culinary adventures, spending quality time with her two children, husband, and her dog, Stella. Kristen’s dedication to both her profession and her community reflects her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of the students and families she serves.
