Janet Calva is a national expert witness in special education, providing forensic analysis and testimony across all 50 states. She also serves as an Independent Educational Evaluation specialist in California for families who disagree with district assessment results. A bilingual Mexican American practitioner, she is an active member of the California Association of School Psychologists.

Mrs. Calva brings deep commitment to her work as a School Psychologist, particularly when partnering with children and families. She goes beyond standard assessment practices, spending meaningful time with students in varied environments to understand their strengths, challenges, and lived experiences. As a bilingual evaluator, she offers access and accuracy that many practitioners cannot, allowing her to conduct linguistically appropriate evaluations for students who require linguistically appropriate assessments.

Having lived in Mexico for more than a decade, Mrs. Calva is fluent in Spanish and highly effective in building rapport with Hispanic families. Her linguistic and cultural expertise strengthens her ability to distinguish between disability-related needs and the natural trajectory of English language development. She holds a Master of Science in School Psychology from National University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla in Mexico. For nearly fifteen years, she has served as a School Psychologist, bringing skill, insight, and cultural responsiveness to every evaluation.

Outside of work, Mrs. Calva enjoys time with her family, traveling, being outdoors, staying active, and exploring creative pursuits. She is a strong member of the CDA team and a powerhouse bilingual evaluator and national expert witness.
