Shannon O’Brien is a distinguished Doctor of Physical Therapy, holding an advanced degree from the University of Saint Augustine after earning a BS in Biology from Long Beach State. Shannon’s has several specialty certifications, including being a Credentialed Clinical Instructor of Physical Therapy and trained in Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI). Further elevating her proficiency, she has undergone advanced training in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) and is a Certified Sibshop Facilitator. A proud member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and California Physical Therapy Association, Shannon’s professional journey is underpinned by her strengths: compassion, dependability, and an exceptional ability to listen. 

Shannon’s vocation in physical therapy is deeply personal and inspired by her experiences growing up alongside a sibling with medical complexities, witnessing the transformative power of physical therapy firsthand. This ignited a lifelong passion for helping children learn to move, explore their environment safely, and achieve functional independence through play-based therapy. Her personal journey as a parent has further deepened her dedication to supporting children and their families. Beyond her professional life, Shannon cherishes time spent with her husband, two daughters, and dog, finding joy in running, swimming, hiking, and crocheting. She also dedicates time to organizing and hosting bi-monthly Sibshop events, providing a supportive space for siblings of children with special needs or medical complexities to connect, share experiences, and find community.
